Godliness Has Value for All 범사에 유익한 경건(디모데전서 4장 8절)

Today's Verse

For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. (1 Timothy 4:8)

육체의 연단은 약간의 유익이 있으나 경건은 범사에 유익하니 금생과 내생에 약속이 있느니라 (딤전4:8)

육체의 연습/연단(physical training)은 약간의 유익(of some value)이 있습니다. 지속적으로 운동을 해 보면 분명 근육이 늘고 체지방이 줄어듭니다. 경건(Godliness)의 연습은 그와 비할 수 없는 모든 유익을 가지고 있습니다(value for all things). 현세의 삶에서도 모든 면에서 그 유익이 얼마나 큽니까. 세상의 가치관과는 다른 하나님의 가치관 가운데 평강(peace)과 기쁨(joy)과 인도(guidance)의 축복들이 기다리고 있습니다. 다가올 하늘나라, 영원한 세계에서의 유익은 말할 필요도 없을 것입니다. 약간의 유익을 위한 육체의 연습 이상으로 경건함(godliness)을 위해 나 자신을 훈련하고 연습합시다(train yourself to be godly). 오늘 내가 경건을 위해 할 수 있는 말씀묵상, 기도, 그밖의 하나님과의 경건연습은 어떤 것이 있을지 생각해 보고, 실천해 봅시다.

Precious Lord. Most people on earth run just for things in this world, but I want to train myself for godliness which values for all things. May I be diligent and zealous for this training. Allow me wisdom and earnest manner. For Jesus' sake. Amen.
