빈센트 브룩스 유엔군사령관이 전날 처음 열린 남과 북, 유엔사간 3자협의체 회의에 대해 “이 생산적인 3자 대화에 고무됐다(encouraged)”고 17일 밝혔다. 3자 대표가 사상 처음으로 공식석상에서 군사적 문제를 논의한 것을 긍정 평가한 것으로 보인다.
브룩스 사령관은 “큰 틀에서 이번 회의는 유엔사와 북한군간의 현존하는 군사정전위 체제가 남북 군사 합의서를 더욱 잘 이행하기 위하여 최근의 북한군과 한국군간의 군사대화와 연결된 것”이라며 이같이 평가했다고 유엔사가 전했다.
유엔사는 이날 보도자료를 통해 “유엔사 및 남북한 군사 당국자들은 16일 판문점에서 최근 남북 군사 합의와 관련된 실무적 차원의 안건들을 이행하는 문제를 논의했다”고 말했다.
유엔사는 “유엔사 및 남북한은 가까운 시일에 계속 이번과 같은 3자회의를 개최하기로 하였으며, 향후 회의에서는 초소철거, 경비병력 감축 및 정찰장비 조정과 같은 의제들의 이행문제가 포함될 것”이라고 설명했다.

CAMP HUMPHREYS, PYEONGTAEK, Republic of Korea – Military officials from the UNC, ROK, and DPRK met at the Joint Security Area at Panmunjom Tuesday to discuss implementation of technical level issues associated with the two Koreas' recent Comprehensive Military Agreement (CMA). 대한민국, 평택 캠프험프리즈 – 유엔사 및 남북한 군사당국자들은 화요일 판문점에서 최근 남북군사합의와 관련된 실무적차원의 안건들을 이행하는 문제를 논의하였다.
Tuesday's meeting was the first such trilateral engagement for all three participants since the CMA. 이날의 회의는 남북군사합의서가 체결된 이래 3자가 참석한 첫번째 회의였다.
“I am encouraged by this productive, trilateral dialogue,” said Gen. Vincent K. The UNC, ROK and DPRK agreed to continue future tri-lateral military meetings in the near future. Topics for future meetings will likely include the implementing details of such matters as removing guard posts, reducing security personnel, and adjusting surveillance equipment. 유엔사 및 남북한은 가까운 시일에 계속 이번과 같은 3자회의를 개최하기로 하였으며, 향후 회의에서는 초소철거, 경비병력 감축 및 정찰장비 조정과 같은 의제들의 이행문제가 포함될 것이다.
UNC is the home for international commitments with a mandate to restore peace and security in defense of the Republic of Korea. UNC coordinates multilateral engagement, and provides a standing multinational framework for the integration of UN Forces into the command. 유엔사는 대한민국 방위를 위해 평화와 안보를 유지하는 권한을 이행하는 국제적인 기구이다. 유엔사는 유엔군을 사령부에 통합하기 위해 관계국가들과 다국적 체계하에 협조하고 있다.
